Iowa Rush teams put on a strong performance for the Midwest Mother’s Day Classic this past weekend in Overland Park, Kansas. Playing in a world-class facility and competing against some of the best clubs in the Midwest, Iowa Rush Select teams from U11-U14 proved to be one of the best on the field.
Ultimately, the U13 Girls Rush and the U14 Girls Rush placed first in their age divisions, while showcasing quality play throughout the entire weekend. The U11 Boys Rush and U12 Girls Rush Blue both battled their way into the final game, but finding a goal in the final game proved to be difficult and both teams finished as finalist. Several other Iowa Rush teams were successful in pool play and succeeded in reaching the semi-finals or taking home third place in consolation rounds.
Iowa Rush Executive Director, Paul Fabry, stated “the overall performances of our teams were of a high quality this past weekend. Our players and teams are developing to be versatile in their attack, and organized in their defending, which are all promising signs to what the future will hold for each group. As our U13 and U14 teams prepare for the ISA State Cup Tournament at the end of May, we are hopeful that they will continue to grow positively from their play over this past weekend and be more prepared for the tournament ahead. Our U11 and U12 teams are showcasing development as individual players in their technique and tactical awareness, and it is translating into better play for the entire team on the field. The coaches were impressed with decision making both on and off the ball, and we believe we are taking great steps in assisting these players to reach their soccer potential”.
Congratulations to all of our teams this past weekend!
