Iowa Rush Technical Director, Corbin Stone, recently announced the staff for next year. After undergoing significant structural changes, the club has created a more centralized, professionalized, staff-driven organization. On the administrative side, Holly Gilmour continues as Office Manager overseeing the office, registration and other administrative functions. A newly created, full-time General Manager position is currently vacant and looking to be filled by July 1. The position will oversee the general operations and functions of the club. Sally Eggland continues as our bookkeeper with Lisa Ceddia, a former assistant athletics' director at the University of Illinois, heading up all of our tournaments. Lisa plans on starting a new recreation-level tournament for fall 2012.
On the technical side, Paul Fabry- USSF 'A' license coach- will oversee the Select Program as the Director of Coaching-Select Program while continuing to spearhead efforts with tryouts, Premier Challenge Leage and other programs and activities. Paul has considerable experience at the high school, college, club and ODP levels. A former University of Toledo assistant coach, he will also serve as the Director of Coaching for Boys Juniors, working directly as the head coach for the u12 Boys and the u16 Girls teams and overseeing all coaching, players and teams at the u13, u14 and u15 Boys level.
Corbin Stone- USSF 'A' license coach- will continue to oversee all technical and administrative matters as Technical Director of the club while also serving as the Age Group DOC for Girls Youth, u11-u12. A former college and US Youth National Team assistant, Corbin will directly coach the u11 Girls. He will also begin to implement a TD training regimen whereby he works with a variety of teams throughout the year on a bi-weekiy basis.
Daryl Brazeau- USSF 'B' license coach- will continue as Director of Coaching for the Academy Program while adding a new title and role: Director of Coaching for Girls Seniors (u16-u18) overseeing the players, coaches and teams at that age level. A coach at the club since 2006, Daryl will be the head coach of the u15 and u18 Girls teams.
Deb Benakis- USSF 'B' license coach- will serve as the Director of Coaching for Girls Juniors, overseeing all players, coaches and teams at the u13-u15 age levels. A former Iowa State starter and Eastern Kentucky University assistant, Deb will be the head coach of the u12 and u14 Girls teams and continuing as the Iowa Rush Webmaster and Social Media Director.
Nuno Ferreira- USSF 'A' license coach- will take on the Director of Coaching for Boys Youth, overseeing all players, coaches and teams at the u11-u12 age levels. He will be the head coach of the u11 Boys and u13 Girls age groups while continuing in his role as Director of Iowa Rush Camps and Clinics.
Danielle Oswald- USSF 'B' license coach- will become the Recreation Program Director overseeing all technical matters within the u5-u8 age levels, directly leading the u5 and u6 Age Group Academies. A former Drake University assistant, Danielle will also be working with the Select and Academy Program as a Float Coach working with a variety of teams and coaches.
Brian Duax and Matt Dryer- State Championship winning coaches at Dowling- return to lead the older boys with Brian serving as the Director of Coaching Boys Seniors and Matt directly taking the lead with the u16-u18 boys' teams. Brian, a former standout at Drake University and currently an assistant at Simpson College, will oversee all the boys' teams, players and coaches at the u16-u18 level. Matt continues as the head coach of these boys' teams for the fall and winter.
Bill Koeppen- a USSF 'B' license coach- will coach the u13 and u15 Boys' teams. A former college coach at Drake and Creighton, Bill brings a varied set of experiences including many years with clubs in Virginia, Nebraska and Iowa. Bill will also become our Director of Programming, adding the opportunity for current Select players to seek individual/small group training with Bill.
Andrew Rohwer- a former DIII standout at Augustana College and Rush coach, Andrew assumes a head coaching position for the u14 Boys Nike team working closely with Paul Fabry, the DOC of the age group. He has been coaching with the club for the last two years, taking the lead with different players and teams over his tenure.
Will Heaston- a current assistant at Dowling High School, Will becomes our Director of Coaching for Goalkeepers. Will has also helped out at West Des Moines Soccer Club. While at Dowling, he was a 2-time State Champion, three-time All-Conference selection and First Team All-Tournament selection. He will be obtaining his NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma this summer.
Tara Zika, Lance Minnaert and other former Rush players attending Iowa State and Drake, all plan to work as assistant coaches for the Select Progam. Tara is a Drake University All-Conference performer and former member of St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club, one of the best clubs in the country for boys and girls. Lance is a former coach and board member with Geneseo (illinois) Soccer Club. He has been with Rush for two years in many varied roles, working with a variety of teams and players.
