u12 Boys- An Update on the Weekend
The U12 Iowa Rush Boys teams traveled to Cedar Rapids to meet their competition on some neutral ground. With the help of a few U 11 boys they were able to divide into two teams and play against some Iowa teams they had only seen in tournament play. The U 12 Blue team started their day off with a win against a Dubuque team and despite a strong comeback from a 3-0 deficit against the FC America Eagles team they came up a goal short. Coach Kyle Smith stated “to find a way back into the game and to pull within one goal was impressive and was the extra effort that we have been needing!” The U12 Black team faced the same FC team in their first match and although they had multiple close shots on goal they walked away with a 1-1 tie. The second game the ball found its way into the net a few more times giving them a 4-1 victory over the Bettendorf team. Coach Smith commented on behalf of both teams that “From a soccer point of reference, we were often better in terms of controlling the possession, building the attack, involving others and I feel we were the hardest working squad.” So, although the teams may have met in the middle for some neutral playing ground it seems that the U12 Iowa Rush boys team came out on top in their overall performance.
