Candidate Bio Summary

The Nominating Committee is pleased to present to you for your consideration the following candidates for the annual election of Board of Director positions with the Iowa Rush Soccer Club for 2012.

Please come to the Annual General Membership meeting at the Prairie Ridge Middle School on January 17, 2012 at 6:30pm to cast your vote.

First Vice President (President Elect)

gary buelt Gary Buelt- Over the past 17 years, Gary has been a parent, coach and fan for the Iowa Rush Soccer Club and its predecessor, the Ankeny Soccer Club. His interest in running for the board stems from his belief that as the club grows; it must be professional and fiscally accountable to its constituents, which include players and families, coaches, staff and the City of Ankeny. Gary serves as vice president and chief credit officer of Bankers Trust, and he has spent his career working in various aspects of finance including regulation, lending and credit and asset management. Vice President of Academy

ahmend agyeman Ahmed Agyeman- A native of Ghana, West Africa, Ahmed completed his education in Ghana before joining his family in Ames, Iowa to attend Iowa State University. Like most children in Ghana, soccer was a big part of his life. Ahmed’s two sons (6 & 8 years old) play for the Iowa Rush Academy. Ahmed has coached U5-U8 and Academy teams with the Club as well as served as the REACH Coordinator. Besides his involvement with Iowa Rush Soccer, Ahmed is also the founder and supports the Ghana Rush Club which partners with orphanages, middle and high schools, and churches in Ghana. Ahmed completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees at ISU and has been and Academic Advisor with DMACC since May of 2002. Prior to that he was with Drake University as Assistant Director of Admissions. katie overberg Katie Overberg- Katie and her husband have two children in the Rush program – one in select and the other in academy. She is currently in her seventh year of coaching, having spent six years in the Recreation program now in the Academy program.   She also coached youth soccer in Iowa City while in law school. She played collegiate soccer for four years at Washington University in St. Louis.   Currently, Katie is an attorney for Iowa State University. She has previous board experience, having served on the board and committees of the Young Women’s Resource Center in Des Moines and now serving on the Iowa Rush Soccer Club’s Lighting Committee in order to improve our facilities. don johnson Don Johnson- Don is a Logistical Officer for the Iowa Army National Guard. He and his wife, a teacher for the Ankeny School District, have three kids in the Iowa Rush Soccer Club, participating in the Select and Academy programs, and have been members since 2001. Over the years Don has had several memorable moments seeing their kids participate within the sport of soccer. Soccer has been a positive experience for my whole family and he now feels it’s time to give back to the club by participating on the board. His other experiences associated with soccer and/or duty positions are: the Treasurer for the 734th RSG Officers Association in the Iowa Army National Guard; High School and Club Soccer Official; former IA Rush Academy volunteer coach; former Creston/Winterset U18 rec coach and Creston High School soccer head coach; and former Graceland University Soccer player. Vice President of Recreation U8 & Below

jamie carter Jamie Carter- Jamie has been involved with the Iowa Rush since 2007. He has coached his daughter’s team for four seasons and has just begun coaching his son’s team this past season. He has an enormous passion for the sport of soccer which he has played his entire life, including three years of soccer collegiately between Junior College and Division I. On a professional note, Jamie is the sales manager covering national accounts for two printing companies (Rock Communications and Color FX) and a Social Media firm (Catchfire Media). He plans to use and share the knowledge he has gained through his experiences and to help continue building upon the strong foundation the Iowa Rush organization has in place. kevin frette Kevin Frette- An Ankeny resident for 11 years, he and his wife, Tracy have two children who are active in the Iowa Rush Recreation and Academy programs. His professional experience includes 15 years in banking where he was in commercial lending and private banking. Kevin is currently a financial advisor for Edward Jones. He has been involved in the Ankeny United Way committee, Ankeny Chamber and currently on the Iowa Legal Aid Advisory Council. erik keninger Erik Keninger- Erik has been playing organized soccer for over 30 years and remains actively involved in competitive play. His playing experience includes youth club, high school, collegiate and adult leagues. He possesses a USSF level E coaching certificate and has served as a volunteer coach for the last seven years for the Ankeny Soccer Club and Iowa Rush Soccer Club’s youth recreational and academy teams. He has a U-6 child in the recreational program and a U-12 child in the select program. Professionally, I am employed by EMC Insurance Companies as an Application Systems Coordinator. Director of Communications

amy keith

Amy Keith- Amy is a new resident of Ankeny and is excited to have her son and step-son be a part of the Rush Select and Academy programs. She has served as a Board member to the Moline (IL) Housing Authority and as Secretary and Vice-President for a large Parent Teacher Association. Amy also has extensive fundraising experience and has volunteered for PTA events, other local charities and the Moline United Soccer Club. Prior to relocating, she served on the executive cabinet for a municipal government which entailed attending and participating in public City Council meetings on a weekly basis for 4 years. Amy looks forward to utilizing her experience to serve the Ankeny community, and more specifically Iowa Rush Soccer. boelman Troy Boelman- Troy is an active parent in Rush Soccer who is committed to the Rush principles and philosophy. His aim is to assist in strengthening Iowa Rush's presence locally, regionally and nationally by developing the resources we currently have. Troy is eager to use his experience to build strong communication within the Rush club, the board and the community. He brings much experience from serving on various boards from the Black Hawk County YMCA to the Rotary Club of Ankeny. Troy is Vice President- Commercial Loans for Bank Iowa in West Des Moines. Treasurer


dawn steenhoek Dawn Steenhoek- Dawn is a CPA and works at Denman & Company, LLP as a tax manager. She has served as the Iowa Rush Soccer Club Treasurer for two years and has implemented many changes. Under Dawn’s leadership, the club has had up to date monthly financial statements, budgets and forecasts, and has filed all tax returns timely. Dawn has also helped the club with monthly bookkeeping, collections, and many other financial decisions. In addition, Dawn has been an integral part of the financial committee and the executive committee. Dawn has three nieces in the club. jeff west Jeff West- Jeff is married with 3 children ranging from 11–20. Professionally, he’s with Wells Fargo as an IT Professional and has been in the financial industry for over 20 years. His daughter played in the Rush program a few years ago and his youngest is currently playing in the program. He worked in the Adventureland of America accounting department for several summers and also worked at US Bank branch offices for several years before moving into the IT profession. matt gustafson Matt Gustafson- Matt is a 1995 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in accounting. He’s currently the Assistant Vice President/Controller at NCMIC Group in Clive, Iowa. He has experience in creating and operating charitable organizations including financial reporting, tax filings, presentations to the Board of Directors and day to day operations. Matt and his wife Jennifer have three kids (ages 13, 11, and 8) that are involved in the Rush Academy and Select programs. He enjoyed coaching his kid’s teams throughout the years while they were involved in the Rush organization’s recreational program and looks forward to the opportunity to remain involved with the Rush Soccer Club as a member of the Board. jason becker Jason Becker- Jason is a CPA and currently a Director in the Western Regional Office of McGladrey & Pullen. He has been treasurer for various non-profit organizations and currently serves as the Treasurer for Ankeny Little League. In addition to having the relevant accounting experience I have three children playing soccer for the Club, one each in the Recreation, Academy, and Select programs.
