Volunteer Fee
Your help is needed!! Iowa Rush Soccer Club is Ankeny's only regulation soccer program serving 1,200 players and we exist through volunteer efforts.
The “volunteer fees” of previous years are built into the fees for 2011 - 2012 and are technically not a separate fee or a fee that is paid up front it is all included in the player fees. Parents are able to receive a $20.00 reimbursement by volunteering and completing one of the following duties:
- Work a shift in concession stand
- Serve as a team manager/team parent **Competitive program only**
Sign Up
Sign up today to work in the concession stand. Volunteers will be reimbursed their volunteer fee upon completion of a 2 hour shift.
A parent/guardian can sign up for 1 shift for each player that is registered with the club. If anyone over the age of 14 is interested in working additional shifts, they can review the openings for the upcoming weekend on Friday nights after 7pm. We need to give the parents the first opportunity to sign up so you can only sign up for left over shifts after 7 pm on Friday night. If you sign up for multiple shifts prior to 7pm on Friday, your name will be removed and you will not be reimbursed for the shift
Duties/Responsibilities
- Sign your name in the "sign-in book".
- No one under 14 should be in the concession stand or be handling money.
- At the end of each shift you are responsible for training the next shift, clean counters and floors. Please do not leave a mess for the next shift.
- If you are on the last shift please do the following:
- Wipe down counters with stainless steel cleaner.
- Clean out popcorn machine inside and out.
- Turn off all machines EXCEPT THE NACHO MACHINE and wipe them down.
- Stock drinks and snacks if asked. (Rotate drinks, they are dated and must be used before expiring.)
If you are interested in working together to build a club that will benefit all levels of soccer players in our community, please contact Iowa Rush Administration
Referee
Iowa Rush understands that referees are an integral part of the game. Therefore we promote all referee license courses and encourage our players and parents to become match officials. Referee license courses are available through the Iowa Soccer Association. Program information can be found at www.iowasoccer.org

REACH (Rush Equipment Assisting Children) is designed to share love and compassion with marginalized youth in third world countries by providing youth soccer clubs, schools, and villages with soccer uniforms and equipment. Furthermore, REACH strives to be advocates of community development by enriching the lives of youth through service, soccer, and education. Over the past few years, Rush has delivered tens of thousands of pieces of equipment to countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, South Africa, Mexico, Thailand, etc. Future sites include Mali, Ghana, Kenya, and Haiti.
The REACH program has been featured on CBS, ABC and Good Morning America. General David Petraeus of the United States Army has personally shared with the Rush the Army's desire for the REACH program to continue. General Petraeus values the humanitarian aspect as well as the fact that the negative stigma diminishes when the U.S. troops are viewed as gift givers in conflict territories. Other partners include America One (foundation of musician and humanitarian Bono) Eurosport, TRIAD and more.
While the REACH program has been very successful to date, it is still being under-utilized. With such a large membership, Rush Soccer has a responsibility to use our numbers to spread this program to all of our Rush partners. With the full support of Rush clubs across the nation, there is no end to the amount of good we can do for the less fortunate. In the past few months, Rush has taken a more proactive approach and has requested for each Rush partner club to have a representative to serve as REACH Volunteer Coordinator or RVC. The RVC's will be collecting equipment within your community and eventually ship the collection to a site in the U.S. for inventory and then, Rush headquarters, one more time will ship to communities in need with-in the United States and Abroad. When you serve 1,200 players each season, there are a lot of moving parts. We maximize every registration dollar we receive, but there's always more we wish we could do. Your contributions allow us to maintain or extend the reach of our scholarship program, maintain the level of services we provide even in the face of rising costs, and continue to keep soccer at all levels as affordable as possible. Of course, your donation is fully tax-deductible and greatly appreciated by our staff and players.
Scholarship Fund
Iowa Rush strongly believes that the benefits of participating in youth sports should not be limited only to those who can afford it. That is why we award scholarships to children of families with documented financial need. Donations to our Scholarship Fund allow us to continue this important work and allow kids who otherwise would not have the chance to play the game they love.
Field Maintenance Fund
Iowa Rush enjoys healthy, positive relationships with the Ankeny Parks and Recreation Department for field use. But that use is not free. Each year, Iowa Rush spends a significant amount of money annually in field preparation and maintenance; mowing, fertilizing, lining fields, etc. That figure does not include field equipment such as goals and nets, nor does it include money for future field acquisition or development. Donations to our Field Maintenance Fund allow us to continue to maintain the fields we use for games and practice, allowing kids the opportunity to play the game they love.
Unrestricted Funds
Unrestricted donations allow us the flexibility to use funds in a variety of ways, including:
- Immediate, unforeseen needs such as replacing damaged field equipment.
- Special events such as RecFest and the Select tournaments.
- Helping coaches attain state- and national-level licensing.
- Unrestricted funds will not be used for personnel expenses or expenses incurred by individual teams or players.
