U13 Boys Champion Updated

The rejuvenated Iowa Rush Champions Cup Spring 2016 hosted fantastic matches at the gorgeous Prairie Ridge Sports Complex in Ankeny this past weekend. Clubs and teams from all over the Midwest were present at the event and competing to hoist the gold cup all weekend long. With the largest presence of teams from outside the state of Iowa ever in attendance at the event, Iowa Rush still did its due diligence and came away as champions in several age divisions.

U11 Girls Rush Finalist

Iowa Rush U13 Boys had a stellar weekend as they went 3-0 in group play, scoring 10 goals and conceding only 5. In the championship match, they sealed the deal with a 3-0 win against NFC 02/03 Blue. Head coach and Director of Select-Boys Nuno Ferreira stated, "It was a good weekend for the players individually and collectively. Their confidence to execute, combined with their consistent mentality to compete throughout the entire weekend, helped to lead us to victory. All are good signs as we move into the second half of the season".

Iowa Rush U11 Girls played some of their best soccer all year at the event and head coach Jeff Adamiak exclaimed, "It was certainly enjoyable to see the girls performing well on the field and executing the way they did throughout the course of the four games. The decision making of the players on the ball are showing increased tactical understanding and comfort in creativity. We look
forward to building on this weekend's performance at training". The team finished as finalist in their division, but only by a goal differential of one, making it an exciting showdown of matches to determine the champion. Congratulations to the team!

The Iowa Rush U12 Girls Blue and White teams finished the event playing one another in the final match of the tournament after three teams in the division went 2-1 in group play, and both Iowa Rush teams advanced on their higher goal differential. Head coach Candice Fabry said, "The entire pool of players in this age group is strong, and to be battling one another for the championship was fun to watch. As a staff, we enjoyed watching their approach to competing in a final against one another, as both teams were visually ready to compete and be called champions at the end of the day. It was definitely a unique chance to talk with players at this age about what they are seeing and thinking on how to improve their team's chances of winning, especially since they knew their opponents so well".
