Iowa Rush Soccer Club had seven teams compete at this past weekend's Just for Girls tournament in Des Moines. Despite a soggy start on Saturday morning, the event proved valuable for our teams in terms of competitive level and ability for our staff to evaluate individual and team development thus far into the season.
The U14 Girls Rush were crowned champions on Sunday evening at Cownie Soccer Complex after playing five solid matches in the tournament. Scoring twenty goals over the weekend, allowing only one goal against, and defeating last year's State Cup champions JUSC in the semi-finals, the team walked away feeling satisfied with their performance. Head coach and General Manager Candice Fabry stated, "I was extremely proud of the players' performances over the weekend. This team has been motivated to improve in training and it is showing in matches, which is always a positive reward for players and their hard work. Their consistency in play from match to match, in both their attack and defending tactics, was impressive, and we only hope to improve upon the performance of this weekend as we prepare for upcoming MRL games and tournaments". Congratulations to the U14 Girls Rush on their championship.
Several other Iowa Rush teams made positive strides in their team's development over the weekend. Outlined below are each team's final tournament record and areas of improvement noticed by the technical staff.
