This summer many players from Iowa Rush were part of the Iowa ODP State Team Pool, including Megan Gray, Julia Johnson, Chloee Kooker, Kenna Sauer, Rylee Tilton, Riley Whitaker, Michelle Nitschke, Halle Randall, Meg Brandt, Clara Sporrer, Maggie Boelman, Chloe Couves, Mariah Deppe, Jordan Enga, Ann Marie Jaworski, Kate Johnson, Jordyn Rittman, Sammy Stoelk, Mary Brandt, Sarah Brandt, Caroline Buelt, Kasey Hurt, Aubree Larson, Rachel McCloskey, Abby Rocha, John Jaworski, Riley Close, Harrison Densmore, Fred Frimpong, Will Nurre, Taylor Parrish, Kenan Smajlovic, and Dallas Smith.
The 1995/1996 Iowa ODP team excelled at Region II ODP Tournament going all the way to the finals before losing 2-1 to Michigan. Sarah Brandt scored four goals during the event and Rachel McCloskey and Aubree Larson were held over for an extended camp for Region II ODP Pool play. In addition, Meg Brandt made the 1998 Region II ODP pool. All three are eligible for selection to national and international events in representing Region II, made up of the best players from 13 different states. “Making the Regional Pool made me realize that all my hard work and dedication to soccer is both rewarding and worth it. Now I will work even harder to try and be successful at the next level”, said Rachel McCloskey after returning home from the camp.
The 1997 Boys Iowa ODP team also had great success at the Region II ODP Tournament, losing a hard fought battle to Michigan in the final on penalty kicks. The Iowa Rush were represented well on this team with Will Nurre and Harrison Densmore; in addition, this team was coached by Iowa Rush staff member Nuno Ferreira.
