Cindy Harris 2014 Board Bio
Cindy Harris Bio:
I am a long time player and fan of soccer. I started playing in first grade in Ames at a time when there were no girls teams to play on. I grew up playing as the only girl on boys’ teams which served me well later in my soccer life. In the late 1980s I played on the Ames High School Varsity boys’ soccer team. I also played for the Iowa State Girls Select team where I traveled to Wisconsin to compete against other state teams as part of the Olympic Development Camp. I attended Grinnell College, playing on their women’s team and was selected Most Valuable Freshman, earned the Coach’s award my second year, and was voted Most Inspirational Player by my teammates at the end of my senior year. As a senior I was also Captain of my team and was selected as an All-Conference player. After Grinnell I played on club teams and then began coaching after I had my twin boys, Hunter and Mason Yeatts. I coached my boys’ 1st and 2nd grade soccer teams in Westfield, New Jersey.
After living in various places on the East Coast (Washington DC, North Carolina, New York City and New Jersey), I moved back to Iowa and settled in Ankeny with my family in the fall of 2012. Hunter and Mason joined the Iowa Rush Program and my boys have been part of the Academy program for 3 seasons. They have also participated in summer and winter skills development programs as well as the indoor Premier Challenge League.
My day job is the Chief Financial Officer at the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA). The Iowa Finance Authority offers a variety of programs that address housing needs, from homeless assistance to multifamily rental and single family homeownership. In addition to offering statewide affordable housing resources, the Iowa Finance Authority also offers a wide variety of other programs to assist in community development, including low cost funds for drinking water and waste water facilities in Iowa through the State Revolving Fund. Title Guaranty, within IFA, provides title coverage for lenders and buyers in Iowa and helps assure the integrity of the land-title system.
When I am not watching soccer games or working at the Iowa Finance Authority I enjoy running, reading, baking and being outdoors. I am also a big fan of college basketball.
